Russian businessman Ilya underwent hernia surgery at Guangzhou Yuexiu District TCM Hospital. He only speaks Russian with very little English and Chinese. The hospital used translation apps and set up a WeChat group to help with meals and daily necessities.

After the operation, the doctor told him via phone translation app: "The surgery went smoothly."

He shared: "Here, I am not just a'foreigner,'but a patient treated seriously and a family member being looked after with care."

Story 4: Canadian Patient Brennan's Lumbar Spine Treatment in Guangzhou

38-year-old Canadian patient Brennan suffered from lumbar spine disease and sinusitis. In Canada's public healthcare system, he faced months of waiting, and his condition deteriorated to the point where he couldn't stand.

He chose to fly to Guangzhou Clifford Hospital. From admission to discharge, it took only about one week.

Total medical cost: only about 4,000 USD. Even including airfare and accommodation, it was still at least 20,000 USD less than private treatment in Europe or America.
